Saturday: 03/28/09 Test Fitting...you name
it... It may seem like double work, but unless I tack the car together soon the DMV won't recognize the car as 'title-able' (is that a word?). That is a problem, since I cannot obtain and attach the "VLASE_T" License Plates to this car -- unless it's registered -- which goes back to whether they will issue a Title for the car. Of course, all I need to do is bolt everything lightly together... I know all that is rather confusing. I am pretty sure the DMV have people whose only job is to figure out how to make the process so convoluted that they can be sure the public will never figure out what they are really doing - which is of course taking money from honest hard-working folks while refusing to fix roads and potholes. Ok... I am off of my soap box (for now...) I spent the better part of TWO days trying to get the car titled only to find out that they won't do it because it's basically in too many pieces. (never mind that all the pieces were right there in the garage and verified by a policeman... incredible!) UUUUUUGGGGHHH!!! I HATE THE DMV! We'll, I intend to fix that in short order. I am going to tack the entire car together so it looks to the untrained eye that the thing is ready to start up and drive away. I don't think they are going to make me start it up. If they do, that would be pretty amazing. We'll have a peace officer come by and see if I can't get this sucker titled -- so I can pick up my plates. Just one more step toward that glorious day when the car will be on the road... ...taking me to places that are as of yet... only in my dreams. More shortly... I promise.
3/11/09 Pictures of front end... In other news... the DMV paperwork is done, and I should receive the personalized plates (VLASE T) in about a 1 -2 months. That give me some time to get the rest of the car done, and ready for the road. Currently it's in a non-op mode, so when I am ready to switch it over, it's just a quick process. I am checking with
Sanjay Sakhuja -
They are sending me
a sample of materials for possibly generating the following The seat pattern is really not that difficult to reproduce, if you know graphics stuff.
This image on the
left is from a person who was selling some brown/grey PASHA
material. This might look a bit too wild! Disclaimer: This pattern can cause seizures!!! :)
The trick is to be able to print this pattern on a wide bolt of material which can be used to re-produce the upholstery on the seats. It's very possible that DPi and I are going to work something out, so that I can use this pattern. Here is the original seats... from my SC, and the 1980 Wreck... 1980 Seats on left with bad metal base, original seats from 1978 SC, with only so/so leather. I plan to re-do the seats with the PASHA pattern, on the good metal bases of the 1978 SC Seats.
Car arrived ... JAN 12,2009 ARE YOU KIDDING ME? This paint is AWESOME! WOW!! THANKS SERGIO!
