(thank you for your interest, John)

Velocity Yellow 1974 911 RS, Built from a straight rolling chassis, 930 turbo metal flares. No rust anywhere on this car. Completely sorted out prior to painting January 2009. 1980 SC motor rebuilt by Tom Amon (40 year veteran Porsche mechanic). DUCK TAIL, red roll bar, Sunroof, 74 Tranny gearing, mechanical speedo. Custom built for the sporty look that is so classic. Aero Mirrors, Minimal graphics, not over done. INFO FOLLOWS PICTURES (Heart breaker sale - economy in California forces sale - I love everything about this car - it's gritty, no nonsense, driver dream... not 100% polished, but has that edge that is lacking in every other car I have owned. It's mean, plenty of power, but demands your attention. A pleasure to drive daily, but weekend thriller. (had a few tense moments on HWY 49... but no damage)

"It's that throaty roar and rumbling CAMs that make the personality of this car truly irresistible!!"

Q&A

Questions: (John asked these questions)

First, great looking car!

What needs to be finished?

answer: There are a few interior items like headliner, carpet kit, etc, but nothing manditory. Depends on your taste. I went very light on the finish work so far, which is fine. (the window regulators may need some tweaking. Left window works fine, right is sticky – but it could be fixed fairly easy)

Any oil leaks?

Answer: A drop here or there after a brisk drive, but very minor. It may just be the valve cover gaskets which get replaced soon. The type I have in there are not the very best type, but I will replace it when I adjust valves – which is soon.... Very normal)

Is it street legal ? looks like plate in rear window –

Answer: The plate is now mounted to the bumper... It is now 74911RS (plate) and it’s all up to date.... And it’s all street legal. 100%... Also 74s are exempt from smog. NEVER have to get it smogged ever. (huge bonus)

What does it cost to rebuild an engine like that if something happens? Was in built in Sac?

Answer: Built (long block) - by Tom Amon – a famous motor builder from the SF Bay Area. I can give you his number if you want to discuss the car. He can tell you all about it. http://www.mobileworkswest.com – his website.  rough cost was 12K. It won’t need a rebuild for many, many years. The last 3.0 liter I had was a 1978 SC (same motor essentially) and it ran fine having 328K mi on it, sold it running fine.

A/C? I'm guessing no to keep light, and for competition –

Answer: No A/C. No need – for me. :) - btw – no radio either. Sounds too good to need that either! The car weighs in at 2600 lbs. (weighed at the dump scale)

Tires still have remaining tread?

Answer: About 60% tread on the back, more than that on the front. An extra set with at least that on the turbo twist wheels – is available.

Of 2200 miles, are they mostly street or track?

Answer: It has roughly 11K miles on it now, none of them track. I only took it on a parade lap when Euro Sunday had an event at Thunder Hill. (three laps at 80% speed) nothing to speak of. I drive it harder on the HWY 49...

NOTES: This car is not a garage queen. It gets driven almost daily in Sacramento. It’s got a 3.0 Liter and Tom or any other Porsche guy will verify for you that if you want reliable, rock solid transportation in a 911, you get the 3.0 Liter, with CIS. That is what it has. It’s basically bullet proof. You can drive it hard all the time, and it just begs for more. It’s not a delicate machine. It’s built to last.
